The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has opened applications for additional revenue collectors and public health personnel to strengthen revenue mobilisation, sanitation and law enforcement across the metropolis.
The Mayor of Accra, Michael Kpakpo Allotey, announced the recruitment drive during an engagement with residents and youth in Bukom on Monday, 14th September, 2026.
According to him, the Assembly needed more personnel to support its renewed drive to restore cleanliness, order and discipline in communities under its jurisdiction, adding that opportunities were available for revenue collectors, town council officers and city guards.
He noted that although the Assembly already had officers undertaking these responsibilities, their numbers were inadequate to effectively cover the metropolis, making the recruitment of additional personnel necessary.
“We need day and night revenue collectors as well as cleaners, town council officers, toll collectors and city guards,” the Mayor said, stressing that the Assembly intended to rebuild a stronger town council system capable of maintaining order within communities.
Hon. Allotey pointed out that the recruitment formed part of the broader “Reset Accra” agenda aimed at changing attitudes, creating employment opportunities and involving residents, particularly young people, in the transformation of the capital.
He said President John Dramani Mahama’s reset agenda should not be viewed only from the national perspective but must also translate into improvements within local communities and changes in the mindset of residents.
He said the Assembly had for some time engaged the operator of an animal-rearing facility in Bukom over alleged breaches of regulations, with the matter eventually proceeding to court.
He said it did not matter whether affected persons belonged to the NDC, NPP, CPP or any other political group, because the responsibility of the Assembly was to protect all residents and enforce its by-laws fairly.
He appealed to the youth of Bukom, Odododiodio and adjoining communities to cooperate with the Assembly, stressing that the transformation of Accra could only succeed with the active involvement of residents themselves.
He said affected traders and occupants were being given adequate notice to relocate voluntarily before enforcement, explaining that his administration preferred engagement and reasonable notice before resorting to demolition.
Hon. Allotey assured residents that the Assembly would continue interventions aimed at improving Bukom, Odododiodio and neighbouring communities to provide a cleaner, safer and more peaceful environment, particularly for young people.
He urged unemployed youth to approach the AMA for information on available employment opportunities and encouraged residents to become active participants in the drive to keep Accra clean, orderly and safe.
