The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of Nkoranman Senior High School at Seikwa in the Bono Region has constructed and handed over an ultramodern infirmary to improve access to basic healthcare for students and staff.
The facility, funded and supported by the PTA, is expected to provide first aid and treatment for minor ailments on campus, reducing the need for students and staff to travel to health facilities in town for routine medical attention.
The new infirmary is equipped to manage common health conditions and serve as a key health support centre for the school community. It is also expected to contribute to a safer school environment and improve student welfare, particularly for boarding students.
Chairman of the PTA, Okrah Tanor, said the initiative was necessary because students spend a significant amount of time on campus and need timely access to healthcare whenever they fall ill.
He explained that having a functional infirmary within the school would allow health concerns to be identified and addressed promptly.
The school authorities expressed appreciation to the PTA for undertaking the project, describing it as an important contribution towards improving conditions for teaching, learning and the wellbeing of students.
The Headmaster of Nkoranman SHS, Felix Wadie Ampong, said the facility would address a major challenge faced by the school, particularly during examination periods and at night when students frequently fall sick.
He explained that, in the absence of an infirmary, school authorities often had to transport sick students to the hospital in town for treatment.
Mr Ampong said the new facility would complement existing healthcare arrangements and provide students and staff with easier access to basic medical services on the school compound.
