The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has conducted a fire safety education and simulation exercise for staff of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) Regional Headquarters at Abura in Cape Coast.
The exercise, held on Monday, August 31, 2026, was organised by the Regional Safety Department of the GNFS in collaboration with the Metro Fire Station, Green Watch.
The exercise was led by the Regional Safety Officer, DO I Mustapha Nyarko Hammah, and formed part of ongoing efforts by the Service to strengthen fire prevention awareness and emergency preparedness among institutions.
NPA staff were taken through fire prevention measures, the proper selection and use of fire extinguishers, evacuation procedures and appropriate responses during fire emergencies.
Particular emphasis was placed on early detection of fires, prompt reporting of incidents and maintaining calm during emergencies.
The Regional Director of the NPA, Michael Opoku-Obiri, commended the GNFS for organising the exercise, saying it had enhanced staff awareness and preparedness for fire emergencies.
With the Fetu Afahye festivities approaching, Mr Opoku-Obiri urged staff to remain vigilant and strictly observe fire safety precautions.
The GNFS said such exercises are essential to equipping the public and institutions with the knowledge and practical skills needed to prevent fires and respond effectively when emergencies occur.
