Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab have completed the signing of Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey, with the club confirming the move on Friday.
The Riyadh-based club announced Partey’s arrival in a video posted on X, ending days of speculation over the Ghana international’s next destination.
The 33-year-old joins Al Shabab as a free agent and is understood to have signed a one-year contract, marking his first move to the Middle East after 13 years in European football.
Partey’s journey in Europe began in 2013 when he joined Atlético Madrid from Ghanaian side Tema Youth.
After loan spells with Mallorca and Almería, he returned to establish himself as a key player under Diego Simeone, helping Atlético become one of Spain’s leading clubs.
His performances earned him a reported £45m move to Arsenal in 2020, where he spent five seasons and made more than 100 appearances for the Premier League club.
Partey now begins a new chapter in Saudi Arabia, with Al Shabab hoping his experience at the highest level of European football will add quality and leadership to their midfield.
