Asante Kotoko head coach Eric Tinkler has hinted that the club could make further surprise additions to its squad ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
The Porcupine Warriors are stepping up preparations for the new campaign as Tinkler works to build a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts.
Kotoko have already undergone significant changes during the off-season, with several players leaving the club as part of an extensive restructuring exercise.
The South African coach, who was appointed ahead of the new season, says the club has largely completed the signings it believes are necessary to strengthen the squad but suggested that more arrivals could still be announced.
“We have now completed the signings that we feel we need to strengthen the squad. What you should expect is obviously there is going to be a number of changes in terms of the squad,” he said.
“We’ve moved a number of players out that we just felt… So [there are] a lot of new faces, a lot of foreign-based players that come with a lot of experience as well, which I think is all very important. Well, there are one or two surprises still coming,” Tinkler added.
His comments are likely to fuel further speculation over Kotoko’s recruitment plans as the club seeks to build a stronger team following a disappointing 2025/26 campaign.
The Kumasi-based side will have an opportunity to assess their progress when they face rivals Hearts of Oak in the 2026 Democracy Cup.
The fixture will serve as an important pre-season test for Tinkler and his new-look squad before Kotoko begin their Ghana Premier League campaign away to newly promoted Debibi United.
