The newly elected Second Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Oti Region, Derrick Mensah Bonsu, has called for unity within the party following the conclusion of its internal elections.
He said the elections and campaigns were now over and urged all members to put their differences aside and work together towards winning the 2028 general elections and bringing Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to power.
According to him, the party’s victory has already begun, but winning the internal elections alone would be meaningless if the NPP failed to recapture power in 2028.
He therefore called on all party members to put their hands on deck, unite and focus on the bigger objective of strengthening the NPP and “looking at the elephant.”

Derrick Mensah Bonsu also thanked delegates for rewarding him with their votes.
He said he was not surprised by his victory, stressing that he had contributed immensely to the development of the NPP.
He further noted that he was among the pioneers who lobbied for the creation of the Oti Region, including writing to then-presidential candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to support the creation of the region.

He also expressed appreciation to the Electoral Commission, the Police Service and other security agencies for their roles in ensuring a peaceful election.
Mr Bonsu commended the security personnel and other stakeholders for their professionalism, saying the elections were conducted peacefully without major incidents.
