One person has been injured in a road crash involving two vehicles at Suhum Niifio on the Accra–Kumasi Highway.
The accident occurred on Sunday, August 16, 2026, and involved a Ford F-150 with registration number DV B9981 and a Kia Rio with registration number AS 5401-12.
Firefighters also recovered cash and personal belongings from the vehicles, including GH¢50,000, US$5,231.81, mobile phones, power banks, National ID cards and other valuables.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the Suhum Municipal Fire Station received a distress call and arrived at the scene at about 8:03 p.m. with a six-member crew led by STNO II Darkwah Prince.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a male occupant trapped inside the Kia Rio.
The crew used extrication equipment to free the casualty and subsequently transported him to the Suhum Government Hospital for medical attention.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the Ford F-150 was overtaking when it collided with the rear of the Kia Rio.
The collision caused extensive damage to the Ford F-150, while the Kia Rio also sustained partial damage.
No fatalities were recorded in the accident.
The GNFS has attributed the crash to wrongful overtaking and urged motorists to exercise caution and strictly adhere to road safety regulations to prevent avoidable accidents.
