The Ghana Police Service has dismissed a flyer circulating on social media claiming that the use of AirPods, earphones and other audio devices while driving or riding is prohibited under Ghanaian law.

In a statement, the Police said the flyer was not an official publication and had neither been issued nor authorised by the Service.

The Police said its Cybercrime Unit had begun efforts to identify and trace those behind the publication and urged the public to disregard the information.

The Service, however, reminded motorists, motorcyclists and other road users to avoid activities that could distract them or affect their ability to hear, concentrate, control their vehicles or remain alert to surrounding traffic.

It urged road users to exercise caution and minimise distractions while driving or riding, stressing the need to comply with the Road Traffic Regulations, 2026 (L.I. 2519), and other applicable traffic laws.

The Police also encouraged the public to verify information through its official communication channels, particularly on matters relating to road safety and traffic regulations.

The Service said it remains committed to enforcing road traffic laws fairly and professionally while working with relevant stakeholders to improve road safety and reduce road crashes.
