Brighton and Hove Albion head coach Fabian Hurzeler says the club will make the best decision for Ghana international Ibrahim Osman as the young winger continues his push for a place in the first team.
Osman joined Brighton from Danish club FC Nordsjaelland but has so far found it difficult to establish himself as a regular member of the Seagulls’ senior squad.
The 21-year-old spent the previous campaign gaining experience through loan spells in France, the Netherlands and England as he continued his development at senior level.
He started the season with French side AJ Auxerre before moving to Dutch giants Feyenoord.
Osman later returned to England, joining Championship side Birmingham City for the second half of the campaign.
During his time at Birmingham, the Ghanaian made 18 appearances across all competitions, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
The spell offered Osman valuable experience of English football and allowed him to further develop his game against the physical and competitive demands of the Championship.
He returned to Brighton for pre-season ahead of the 2026/27 campaign and appears to have made a positive impression on Hurzeler.
Osman was involved in Brighton’s impressive 3-0 pre-season victory over Italian giants AS Roma, providing another opportunity for the Ghanaian to demonstrate that he is ready to compete for a place in the first-team squad.
Hurzeler acknowledged Osman’s progress and revealed that he has been impressed with the youngster so far.
However, the Brighton boss stressed that the club will assess the situation carefully before deciding whether Osman should remain with the first team or pursue another opportunity.
“I’m also impressed by him (Osman) so far, so let’s wait how this continues, and then we make the best decision for him and for the club,” Hurzeler told The Argus.
The Ghana international is expected to feature again when Brighton face Italian Serie A side Bologna in another pre-season fixture on Saturday at 14:00 GMT.
