Evangelist Perpetual Asante, a candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Greater Accra Regional Women’s Organiser position, has expressed confidence in defeating her contenders in the upcoming election.
She described herself as the institutional memory the party needs to reorganise and stage a successful comeback in the 2028 general elections.
“All my contenders in the Women’s Organiser race are my mentees, and I will defeat them all because I have served the NPP all my life. I am the institutional memory the party needs in Accra for a smooth comeback in 2028,” she said.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Evangelist Asante said she has about 30 years of experience serving the NPP and has worked extensively with women and the party’s grassroots structures.
She said she served for eight years as Deputy Operations Director under former First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo, an experience she believes has equipped her with the skills needed to lead the party’s women’s wing in the region.
“I really have the experience. I have worked with the former First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo for eight years as the Deputy Operations Director,” she said.
Evangelist Asante also recalled that she previously intended to contest for the Greater Accra Regional Women’s Organiser position but stepped aside to allow the incumbent, Grace Acheampong, whom she described as her senior, to contest.
She subsequently served as Grace Acheampong’s deputy, a position she said gave her the opportunity to work across constituencies in the region.
“In my first term, I wanted to contest as the Regional Organiser, and my senior, the incumbent Grace Acheampong, also wanted to contest, so I stepped down for her to contest. I was also privileged to be her deputy. So I have impacted in all the constituencies,” she said.
Describing herself as a “people’s person”, she said her campaign was anchored on maturity, experience, loyalty and commitment to the NPP.
“All my fellow contestants are my baby girls. I am a people’s person working with women. With God all things are possible and I believe coming Saturday I will be named the Greater Accra Regional Women’s Organiser,” she said.
Evangelist Asante said her ambition is not limited to winning the regional position but also contributing to the NPP’s efforts to regain power in 2028.
“My focus is on the national and the 2028 election. And it is possible that Bawumia will become the next president,” she added.
She further stressed that her three decades of service to the NPP had given her the grassroots experience and understanding needed to help strengthen the party’s structures in Greater Accra.
