President John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to provide a brand-new 60-seater bus to a school in Paga in the Upper East Region to support teaching and learning.
The President made the announcement on Thursday, August 13, 2026, during his engagement with residents as part of his ongoing nationwide interactions with citizens.
President Mahama said the provision of the bus formed part of efforts to improve the school’s logistics and create a more conducive environment for students.
“I’m going to give you a 60-seater bus for this school. A brand-new 60-seater bus for this school,” he said.
He indicated that the school would receive the bus even before the completion of the planned dormitory facilities.
“You’ll get a bus even before the dormitory blocks are built,” the President added.
President Mahama, however, stressed that government’s investment in infrastructure and logistics must ultimately translate into improved academic performance.
He urged the school authorities to work towards transforming the institution into a centre of excellence, noting that the true measure of the school’s success would be the achievements of its students.
“It’s not just about the brick and mortar and building the school. This school will be judged by the outcome of what the students become,” he said.
The President therefore challenged the school to aim for a 100 per cent pass rate in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
“I want to see that the children here pass 100%,” he stated.
He encouraged the school authorities to make effective use of the facilities and logistics provided by government to enhance teaching and learning.
President Mahama said improved infrastructure must be accompanied by strong academic outcomes to ensure that students receive quality education and are adequately prepared for their future.
