The Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs has released the implementation arrangements for the two-day National Flood Aftermath Clean-up Exercise scheduled for the seven flood-affected regions.

The update follows the government’s earlier announcement of the exercise, which is aimed at supporting recovery efforts and restoring communities affected by the recent floods.

According to the Ministry, the exercise will take place on Friday, July 10 and Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. each day.

The first phase on Friday, July 10, will involve Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), public and private institutions, security services, educational institutions, waste management companies and the general public.

The second phase on Saturday, July 11, will focus on community-level participation, involving residents, community-based and volunteer groups, security services, MMDAs, waste management companies and the general public.

As part of measures to ensure effective participation, the Ministry has directed that shops, markets, commercial establishments, corporate organisations and other non-essential businesses within the affected regions remain closed from 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on both days.

Institutions providing essential and emergency services have been exempted from the closure arrangement.

The Ministry is urging all stakeholders, including individuals, businesses and organisations, to cooperate and actively participate in the exercise to support the recovery and rebuilding of flood-affected communities.
