Six private security guards have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service in connection with a shooting incident at Kwabenya on June 21, 2026, which left former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo with a gunshot injury to her left ear.
In a statement signed by Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, Supt Juliana Obeng, police said a search conducted following the arrests led to the retrieval of five pump-action guns, one Taurus pistol loaded with seven rounds of 9mm ammunition, an additional magazine with five rounds of 9mm ammunition, and communication equipment.
According to police, personnel from the National Operations Directorate and the Intelligence Directorate who were on special duty received a distress call from a residence at Kwabenya and proceeded to the scene.
Investigators established that a ceremony was underway at the residence of Mr. Tamakloe Safo Jehoshaphat, alias Akofena, when Adwoa Safo arrived and requested access to the premises but was denied entry.
Armed security personnel at the residence allegedly discharged firearms during the ensuing incident, injuring the former legislator. Her vehicle was also found with multiple gunshot marks.

The suspects and all retrieved exhibits have been transferred to Police Headquarters to assist ongoing investigations.
Police say efforts are underway to locate and arrest all other persons connected with the incident.
