The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has forecast cloudy conditions, intermittent rainfall and thunderstorms across parts of the country over the next 24 hours.
According to the agency’s latest impact-based weather forecast issued by its Central Analysis and Forecasting Office (CAFO) on Sunday, cloud cover and periods of light to moderate rain are expected to persist through the evening and night, especially in southern Ghana.
GMet explained that thunderstorm and rain-bearing clouds have formed over sections of the middle and transition belts and are likely to produce rainfall and thunderstorms of varying intensities.
The agency indicated that some areas within the coastal, forest and transition zones could experience moderate rainfall, with occasional heavy downpours accompanied by thunderstorms.
The forecast also predicts generally cloudy conditions during the early hours of Monday, June 22, with slight rains expected over parts of the southern sector.
Temperature levels are expected to remain moderate across the country, with maximum temperatures projected to range between 26°C and 29°C, while minimum temperatures are expected to range between 21°C and 24°C. The northern sector is likely to record the highest temperatures.
GMet has advised the public, particularly residents in flood-prone communities, to remain alert and take the necessary precautions as the rains continue.
Motorists have also been urged to exercise caution on the roads due to possible poor visibility and slippery conditions during periods of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
