The leadership of Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana has rejected claims circulating on social media that Former Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo was shot during an incident at the church’s property in Kwabenya on June 21, 2026.

In a statement issued on Sunday, 21 June, the church described the allegations as false and misleading, calling for a thorough and impartial investigation into the matter.

According to the statement, the incident occurred after a lawful church event at the premises when Sarah Adwoa Safo allegedly arrived at the venue and drove her vehicle into the entrance gates of the property.

The church claimed that her vehicle struck two metallic gates, causing significant damage to both structures.

“At the time of the incident, numerous worshippers and invited guests were present within the premises, including individuals seated in close proximity to the entrance,” the statement said.

The church leadership stated that the incident posed a serious risk to lives and property, adding that the consequences could have been severe if the gates had collapsed completely or if the vehicle had moved beyond the entrance.

It further explained that security personnel on duty intervened to prevent further escalation and to ensure the safety of worshippers and guests gathered at the event.

The statement also addressed reports suggesting that Sarah Adwoa Safo had been shot by her brother during the incident.

“We categorically reject these allegations as false and misleading. To the best of our knowledge and based on information presently available to us, no such shooting occurred,” the church stated.

Kristo Asafo Mission said it had become aware of what it described as unverified reports seeking to create the impression that Ms. Safo had sustained a gunshot wound.

The church has therefore called on the relevant authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation into all aspects of the incident to establish the facts.

It also urged the public to refrain from drawing conclusions based on unverified social media reports and to allow law enforcement agencies to carry out their work.

The leadership reaffirmed its commitment to peace, truth, the rule of law and the safety of all persons who attend its events.
