Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu, has assured the family of murdered investigative journalist Ahmed Suale that government remains committed to ensuring justice is served.
The Minister gave the assurance during a visit to Ahmed Suale’s family at Wulensi in the Nanumba South District of the Northern Region on Saturday, June 20.
Speaking in the presence of Ahmed Suale’s mother, Yakubu Arahamatu, Mr Iddrisu said government would continue pursuing those responsible for the journalist’s murder and expressed confidence that justice would ultimately prevail.
“God’s justice is worth the wait, and government’s pursuit of justice in this matter is worth pursuing. We will continue to pursue it, we will unravel it, and we pray that God will support us to do so,” he stated.
He stressed that no one can permanently evade justice, regardless of how long it takes.
“There are some who think they can run away from justice, but though the wheels of justice may turn tortuously they will ultimately reach their destination and serve the ends of justice,” he added.
Mr Iddrisu’s visit formed part of a trip to the area, where he had earlier joined the NDC Constituency Chairman in Bimbilla to mourn the passing of his father.
As part of efforts to support the bereaved family, the Minister also assured Ahmed Suale’s sister that she would be considered under the Ghana Education Service teacher recruitment process to enable her contribute to the welfare of the family.
Ahmed Suale, a member of the investigative team at Tiger Eye PI, was shot dead in Accra in January 2019. His murder continues to attract public interest, with calls for justice from media practitioners, civil society groups and the international community.
