Ghana forward Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has welcomed his inclusion in the Black Stars’ final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, saying he is motivated to play a decisive role as the team targets a strong tournament run.
The 22-year-old winger, who featured at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar—making an appearance against Portugal—said his previous experience has sharpened his mindset and prepared him for a more influential contribution this time around.
Speaking to the Ghana Football Association’s media team, Issahaku described his selection as a proud moment while outlining his determination to help Ghana progress further in the competition.
“I feel amazing because it’s always a dream come true to be part of a World Cup team. I’m privileged to be a part of this team, and this is my second time,” he said.
“The first time was about experience, and I learnt a lot. Now I’m going to put in everything to help the team get to a better position,” he added.
Ghana, appearing at the World Cup for the fifth time, have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, Croatia and England.
The Black Stars open their campaign against Panama on Wednesday, June 17, at BMO Field in Toronto.
The squad has already arrived in the Canadian city and is expected to hold a mandatory training session at BMO Field on Tuesday ahead of their opening fixture.
