Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has acknowledged the scale of the task ahead for Ghana but insists the team remains focused and determined to make the nation proud at the upcoming tournament.

Ghana, represented by the national football team, have been drawn in a demanding Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia, setting up a challenging path to the knockout stage.

Speaking at a send-off event before the squad’s departure to Rhode Island on Wednesday, Ayew urged supporters to rally behind the team as they prepare for what he described as a defining moment.

“We have three massive games ahead of us, and we want to make you guys proud and make Ghana proud,” Ayew said.

“Obviously, it’s not going to be easy, but with your prayers and your support, hopefully we’ll be successful.

“We want to thank everyone for your support and ask you to keep praying for us because we are here to make history,” the former Leicester City forward added.

Ghana will open their campaign against Panama at BMO Field on June 17, before taking on England at Gillette Stadium on June 23. Their final Group L fixture will come against Croatia on June 27.

The Black Stars are targeting a first appearance in the knockout rounds since 2010, as pressure and expectation build ahead of kickoff.
