Black Stars goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi has expressed confidence in the tactical direction of head coach Carlos Queiroz, urging his teammates to fully commit to the Portuguese manager’s instructions as Ghana step up preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana, who will compete at the tournament across the United States, Canada and Mexico, are intensifying their build-up after a mixed run of recent friendlies, including a 1-1 draw with Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Queiroz, appointed in April on a short-term deal following the departure of Otto Addo after consecutive defeats to Austria and Germany, has been working to imprint his structure and philosophy on the squad ahead of the global showpiece.

Ati-Zigi, who has been a key figure for the side, praised the experience of the former Real Madrid and Egypt manager and stressed the importance of discipline and collective execution within the team.

“He’s a very experienced coach. He has a lot of information. We just have to take the good information he gives us and try to make use of it. The expectation is teamwork,” Ati-Zigi said.

“We’re going to fight to the end. We’re going to give it all, and we hope that we’ll make Ghanaians proud,” he added.

Ghana, represented by the Ghana national football team, will be making their fifth World Cup appearance and have been drawn in a demanding Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.

Their campaign begins on June 17 against Panama at BMO Field, before a high-profile clash with England at Gillette Stadium on June 23. They will conclude the group stage against Croatia on June 27.
