The National Ambulance Service (NAS), Ashanti Region, has trained final-year Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) students at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in essential emergency care skills as part of efforts to strengthen emergency preparedness among future healthcare professionals.
The training, held on June 9, 2026, at the Department of Medical Sciences in Kumasi, focused on Basic Life Support (BLS) and bleeding control techniques.
Led by the Regional Administrative Manager of NAS Ashanti Region, DCAEMT Sommik Duut Miilon, the session combined theoretical instruction with practical demonstrations to equip participants with critical life-saving skills.
Students received hands-on training in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and learned effective methods for controlling severe bleeding during emergency situations.
According to the National Ambulance Service, the initiative forms part of its ongoing public education and outreach programmes aimed at building emergency response capacity and promoting collaboration with academic institutions.
The Service noted that empowering future healthcare professionals with emergency care knowledge is crucial to improving patient outcomes and enhancing healthcare delivery.
NAS reaffirmed its commitment to expanding life-saving education across the country and helping build a safer and more prepared society.
