Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has announced that water production for Kumasi and surrounding communities has resumed at the Barekese Water Treatment Plant as repair works on the transmission pipeline have been completed.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, GWL said the repair works were completed around 4:00 a.m., which is ahead of the scheduled completion period, adding that this was because of the dedication and professionalism of its technical and operational teams.
“This achievement is a testament to the dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment of the technical and operational teams who worked tirelessly to ensure the timely completion of the repair works and the restoration of service to customers.”
Kumasi Metropolitan Area and adjoining communities who were affected by the disruption are expected to see improved water supply as production resumes.
Management of Ghana Water Limited expressed appreciation to customers, stakeholders, and the general public for their patience, understanding, and cooperation during the period of the repair exercise.
The company further reaffirmed its commitment to providing safe, reliable, and sustainable water services and pledged to continue implementing proactive measures to improve service delivery across the Ashanti Region.
