The Mayor of Accra, Michael Kpakpo Allotey, together with the Klottey Municipal Chief Executive, Alfred Ato Allotey-Gaisie, has visited a young man recovering from a spinal injury sustained after an incident in which he was reportedly tripped by goats.

The visit was part of a support intervention for the victim, who is currently receiving medical care following the accident.

The officials engaged both the patient and health personnel to assess his condition and the cost of treatment, as well as to assure the family of government support.

During the visit, the Mayor announced that the cost of the young man’s surgery, estimated at GH¢26,000, will be fully covered by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly and its partners. An additional GH¢2,000 was also presented to support his immediate upkeep and recovery needs.

Beyond the medical support, the mayor addressed the circumstances surrounding the incident, noting that the presence of goats in residential areas poses a serious sanitation and public safety concern.

He stated that it is unlawful to rear goats within human settlements and directed that the owner of the animals clear the area immediately.

He further disclosed that the owner has been given up to Friday to comply with the directive, after which he will be made to face the sanitation court. The Mayor added that the individual will also be required to compensate the victim for the injuries sustained.

The officials emphasized that the Assembly will not tolerate practices that endanger residents or compromise sanitation standards within the city.
