The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is expected to be present at BMO Field in Toronto on June 17 to watch the Ghana national football team open their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign against Panama.
According to Graphic Online, the Ashanti monarch, who was in Poland last week, will continue his trip to Canada, where he is also scheduled to serve as Special Guest of Honour at the 2026 FIFA World Cup Business Summit, running from June 15 to 21.
The summit is being organised by the Canada-Ghana Chamber of Commerce and its partners.
His presence in Toronto is expected to provide significant morale and symbolic support for Ghana’s squad as they begin their tournament campaign.
After their opener in Toronto, Ghana will travel to Boston for their second Group L fixture against England before heading to Philadelphia for their final group-stage match.
The Black Stars will conclude their pre-tournament preparations with a friendly against Jamaica on June 10, just days before the World Cup kicks off.
Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia. They open against Panama on June 17, face England on June 23, and wrap up their group stage on June 27 against Croatia.
The four-time African champions are targeting a return to the knockout stages for the first time since their memorable quarter-final run in 2010.
