The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Ladies Association in the Ahafo Region has sensitised more than 500 women on fire safety and prevention as part of efforts to reduce fire outbreaks in the region.
The exercise, held in Goaso, forms part of the association’s ongoing public education campaign aimed at equipping women with knowledge and skills to help prevent domestic and workplace fires.
Speaking to Adom News, the Protocol Officer of the GNFS in the Ahafo Region, Assistant Divisional Officer One (ADO1) Judith Asamoah, said women play a key role in fire prevention due to their influence in homes, markets and workplaces.
She noted that empowering women with fire safety knowledge significantly contributes to reducing avoidable fire incidents and protecting lives and property.

She explained that the GNFS Ladies Association has taken it upon itself to engage women across the region to educate them on fire prevention, emergency response, and other fire-related issues.
ADO1 Judith Asamoah commended women in the Ahafo Region for their contribution to reducing fire outbreaks, noting that recorded incidents have declined in recent years compared to previous periods.
She urged participants to take fire safety education seriously and apply the knowledge gained in their homes, businesses, and communities.
She further observed that since the association intensified its outreach on fire safety, the region has witnessed a significant reduction in fire outbreaks.
ADO1 Asamoah expressed confidence that sustained public education and community involvement would further strengthen efforts to prevent fire incidents and promote safety across the Ahafo Region.
