Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has unveiled a campaign team to support his bid for the National Chairmanship position ahead of the party’s upcoming internal elections.

The announcement follows what his camp describes as extensive nationwide consultations, which they say have placed him in a strong position among contenders for the top party role.

The newly formed team brings together experienced politicians and younger party figures, a combination the campaign says reflects broad support across the party’s structures.

Leading the team as Campaign Chairman is former Sunyani East MP and former Majority Chief Whip of Parliament, Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh.

Former New Edubiase MP and ex-Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, George Boahen Oduro, will serve as Campaign Manager.

Other members include former Tarkwa-Nsuaem MP George Mireku Duker; Nhyiaeso MP and former Deputy Finance Minister Stephen Amoah; and former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo, who previously served as Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection.

The team also includes former Trobu MP Moses Anim, former Central Regional Minister Justina Marigold Assan, former Ablekuma North MP Akua Afriyie, and former Government Spokesperson on Governance and Security Palgrave Boakye-Danquah.

According to the campaign, the diverse composition of the team signals unity, inclusiveness and growing grassroots backing for Chairman Wontumi’s leadership bid.

In a statement, he expressed confidence in the team’s ability to run a disciplined and issue-focused campaign, stressing that his vision is to strengthen party structures, deepen grassroots mobilisation and position the NPP for victory in the 2028 general elections.

The campaign is being coordinated by spokesperson David Boakye, who provided contact details for further engagement on the announcement.
