President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has expressed confidence that the Black Stars can produce one of their strongest performances yet at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

His comments were made on Friday, May 8, during the official unveiling of a new partnership between the GFA and Gold Fields Ghana.

Under the agreement, Gold Fields Ghana will support Ghana football with a two-year, $5 million sponsorship package. The deal covers the senior men’s and women’s national teams—the Black Stars and Black Queens—as well as the amputee national team (Black Challenge) and the Women’s Premier League.

Speaking at the event, Okraku highlighted the importance of the investment in strengthening Ghana’s preparation for international competitions.

“Very soon, our Black Stars will be coming out of the tunnel to represent our country during the World Cup in the US, Canada, and Mexico,” he said.

“These resources will help us to adequately prepare a team, and we are very positive about the team putting up one of the best performances ever in the history of the game,” Mr Okraku added.

The Black Stars will be making their fifth appearance at the World Cup, where they have been drawn in Group I alongside England, Croatia, and Panama.

Ghana will open their campaign against Panama on June 17, before taking on England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.

Ahead of the tournament, the team will also face Mexico and Wales in warm-up matches as part of their final preparations.
