The General Secretary of the National Council of Parent-Teacher Associations, Gapson Kofi Raphael, has assured that progress is being made to resolve challenges affecting school feeding across the country.
Speaking on the JoyNews Desk on JoyNews, he indicated that by the close of the next day, there should be positive developments regarding the seven-month arrears for funding perishable items.
“By close of day tomorrow, we expect good news on resolving the seven-month arrears for perishable funding,” he assured.
According to him, the issue has largely stemmed from delays in funding for perishables, some of which were inherited, despite schools having adequate stock of non-perishable food items.
On the issue of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) not taking instructions from the Education Minister, he noted that the GETFund Administrator works in coordination with both the Education Ministry and the Ministry of Finance, describing this as standard practice.
Gapson Kofi Raphael added that the recent tensions between the GETFund Administrator and the Education Minister are close to being resolved.
He expressed optimism that the situation, which has caused concern among stakeholders, will soon be a thing of the past once the funding issues are addressed.
