Head coach of Medeama SC, Ibrahim Tanko, has praised striker Kelvin Obeng for his growing influence in the Ghana Premier League following the club’s emphatic victory over Asante Kotoko.

The 26-year-old forward was on target as the Yellow and Mauve cruised to a 4-0 win at the TNA Park on Matchday 29, a result that further strengthened their title ambitions.

Obeng, who recently returned from a knee injury after joining from Aduana Stars, played a key role in the dominant performance, with Tanko highlighting the added dimension he brings to the team’s attack.

Speaking after the match, the Medeama coach stressed the importance of having a traditional centre-forward in his setup.

“You need a type of striker who can keep the ball for you, who is good in the air, and you could see that he is a typical striker in the box, and that was the type of striker we were missing in the first round. I think adding him has given us a lot of options,” Tanko said.

The comprehensive win, combined with Bibiani Gold Stars defeat to Aduana Stars, propelled Medeama to the top of the league table with a two-point lead.

Attention now shifts to the MTN FA Cup, where Medeama face Dreams FC in the semi-finals on April 18, 2026, as they continue their push for silverware this season.
