The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asutifi North in the Ahafo Region, Hafiz Dauda, has raised concerns over the deplorable state of the Kindergarten (KG) block at Pobikrom D/A Basic School, calling for urgent intervention to improve teaching and learning conditions.

Speaking at the school’s 65th anniversary celebration, held under the theme “65 Years of Excellence in Education: Honouring Our Past, Inspiring the Future to Meet Modern Standards,” the Deputy Secretary of the NDC in the Asutifi North Constituency, Dauda Nuhu, told Adom News that the District Assembly has resolved to construct a new KG block.

He explained that the decision followed appeals from traditional authorities and the school management regarding the poor condition of the existing structure, which poses challenges to both teachers and pupils. He further disclosed that the DCE has personally donated 40 bags of cement to support efforts by old students, who have also initiated plans to build a new KG block.

Meanwhile, the Asutifi North District Director of Education, Naomi Asantewaa, used the occasion to appeal to teachers to accept postings to rural communities, regardless of the conditions.

She emphasised that children in rural areas deserve quality education just as much as those in urban centres and urged teachers, especially female educators, to stop rejecting postings to deprived communities.
