Former New Juaben North NPP Constituency Chairman, Kwadwo Boateng Agyemang, has criticised Bryan Acheampong for attributing the party’s defeat in the 2024 general elections solely to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
According to Agyemang, Acheampong, who served as Eastern Regional Campaign Coordinator for Bawumia, must also take responsibility for the party’s loss.
Speaking on Adom TV’s morning show, Badwam, he argued that it is unfair for Acheampong to distance himself from the defeat when he was a key member of the campaign team and one of Bawumia’s advisers.
“It is very important that as we approach the elections, we are measured in our language. Bryan Acheampong has stated that Bawumia was the reason we lost the 2024 elections, claiming that bringing him back as the flagbearer puts the party at risk. I don’t believe that is right. Bryan Acheampong must take full responsibility; if Bawumia failed, he was part of the reason why. This suggests that they intentionally provided him with poor advice that contributed to his defeat. Bryan was Bawumia’s coordinator in the Eastern Region, which adds to the responsibility,” he said.
Agyemang added that if Bawumia failed in the 2024 elections, then Acheampong also failed, given his significant role in shaping the campaign strategy in the Eastern Region.
“If he had the audacity to undermine our candidate by warning delegates that bringing Bawumia back would be disastrous, then we must question his judgment. Bryan explained that Bawumia lost the 2024 election, but he was also part of the campaign team. Therefore, if Bawumia failed, then Bryan Acheampong also failed. What was he thinking while advising Bawumia? He was one of his key advisors,” he added.
