A young man in his mid-thirties, identified as Kojo Antwi, is on the run after allegedly absconding with his uncle’s BMW S35X Gran, a 2011 model, in Winneba in the Central Region.
The suspect is accused of stealing the vehicle, bearing registration number DV 9422–23, after he was entrusted by his uncle to send it to a mechanic shop for repairs and the repainting of a minor dent.
Police say Antwi failed to return the vehicle after the assignment and has since gone into hiding. Preliminary investigations by the Winneba Divisional Police indicate that the suspect is still in possession of the BMW.
The case has since been taken over by the Central Regional Police Command, which has launched a manhunt for the suspect and intensified efforts to recover the vehicle.
In a public appeal, the Police are urging residents of Winneba and surrounding communities to provide any credible information that could lead to the arrest of Kojo Antwi and the retrieval of the stolen vehicle.
