The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has credited Ghana’s recent sporting achievements to deliberate reforms and targeted investments within the sector.
Speaking at the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awards last Saturday, Mr. Adams said bold interventions implemented over the past two years are now producing visible and measurable results.
“We took hard decisions, we invested deliberately, and Ghana is reaping the results,” he stated.
The Buem MP pointed to the Black Stars’ qualification for the FIFA World Cup, the resurgence of the Black Queens, and the University for Development Studies’ historic triumph at the Universities World Cup in China as clear signs of Ghana’s rising momentum in sport.
“Our athletes have excelled across disciplines, and Ghana has repositioned itself as a credible force in African and global sport,” he said.
Mr. Adams stressed that these milestones are the product of sound policy, meticulous preparation, and disciplined execution — not coincidence. He urged all stakeholders to maintain the current pace and commitment to ensure sustained progress.
“This performance is the product of policy, preparation and discipline — not luck,” he said. “We must build on this foundation and resist the temptation to relax. Success rewards consistency.”
