Kintampo market fire: MCE and NADMO suspect arson, call for thorough investigation

-

Authorities in the Kintampo North Municipality have raised suspicions of arson following a devastating fire that swept through the Kintampo market on Sunday morning, destroying goods worth millions of cedis.

During separate visits to the scene, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Isaac Donkor, and the Bono East Regional NADMO Director, Akwasi Lampor, suggested that the incident may have been deliberate.

They have called on security and investigative agencies to conduct a thorough probe into the matter.

Describing the incident as unfortunate, MCE Isaac Donkor hinted that such acts could be politically motivated, aimed at frustrating government efforts.

Regional NADMO Director Akwasi Lampor assured that his office will collaborate with the MCE and the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) to mobilize support for traders who lost their livelihoods in the fire.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the actual cause of the blaze.
