Two firefighters have been injured while battling a fierce blaze that ripped through a one-storey building at Akyem Moseaso in the Eastern Region on Friday, November 7, 2025.
The incident, which occurred around 11:05 a.m., destroyed seven rooms and their contents before being brought under control.
According to a statement from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Eastern Regional Public Relations Office, personnel from the Anyinam Fire Station were the first to respond to the emergency.
The crew, led by AstnO Mubarak Ismaila, arrived at the scene at about 11:10 a.m. and, upon realizing the intensity of the blaze, immediately called for reinforcement from the Bunso Fire Station.
The two teams worked together to contain the flames, managing to bring the situation under control by 11:30 a.m., with full extinguishment achieved at 12:09 p.m.
Despite the loss of seven rooms, firefighters managed to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures, averting what could have been a much larger disaster.
During the operation, two firefighters sustained injuries. One was treated and later discharged, while the other is still receiving medical attention at the Anyinam Health Centre.
Officials say the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Meanwhile, GNFS has commended the bravery and professionalism of the responding officers and has reminded the public to observe fire safety precautions, especially as the harmattan season approaches.
