Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has lauded the rapid development of midfielder Hubert Gyau, whose impressive performances have stood out in the ongoing Ghana Premier League season.
Gyau, who joined Kotoko from Berekum Chelsea, has quickly secured a key role in the team’s midfield, earning praise for his energy, creativity, and growing influence on the pitch.
The 20-year-old stole the spotlight last weekend at Baba Yara Stadium, scoring twice in Kotoko’s thrilling 4-2 victory over Karela United.
Ahead of Sunday’s Matchday 9 Super Clash against arch-rivals Hearts of Oak, Zito applauded Gyau’s continued improvement and credited the player’s adaptability to the team’s style.
“He is improving, gradually improving. He has his own way of playing, but you can’t just play your way in a team. I told him to play with the team, and then I guided him on where to go individually,” Zito said.
The Kotoko coach added that while Gyau’s heroics against Karela were not a surprise, he was particularly impressed by the midfielder’s second goal.
“I wasn’t surprised with his performance against Karela, but I was very happy, especially with his second goal—it was fantastic,” Zito noted.
The highly anticipated Super Clash kicks off at 16:00 GMT at the Accra Sports Stadium.
