Construction finally begins on long-neglected Berekum–Sampa road

-

Construction has officially commenced on the long-abandoned Berekum–Sampa road, bringing long-awaited relief to residents, drivers, and commuters who have endured years of poor road conditions and insecurity.

The project, being undertaken by Rango Construction Company, marks a major step toward improving transportation and safety along the stretch.

Speaking on the development, Member of Parliament for Berekum West, Dickson Kyere Dua, confirmed that the contract has been awarded and expressed confidence that the contractor will complete the project as scheduled.

He also revealed plans to establish security checkpoints along the route to address frequent robbery incidents that have long threatened commuters.

Some drivers shared their experiences of enduring repeated robbery attacks and vehicle damage due to the deplorable nature of the road. They described the ongoing construction and proposed police barriers as a welcome intervention, but urged the government to ensure the project is fully completed—unlike in previous attempts.
