The Black Queens are expected to resume training later on Monday as they prepare for the second leg of their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier against Egypt.
The decision comes after the team threatened to boycott Tuesday’s return fixture over unpaid winning bonuses.
Despite their commanding 3–0 victory in the first leg in Ismailia last week, the players refused to train over the weekend in protest of the outstanding payments.
The situation intensified when reports emerged that the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, had allegedly advised the team to boycott the game during a meeting.
However, following a crucial discussion on Monday between the team and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Okraku, the Black Queens agreed to return to training ahead of the decisive encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium.
A victory on Tuesday would seal Ghana’s qualification for the 2026 WAFCON in Morocco. Progressing to the semifinals of that tournament would also earn the Black Queens a place at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
