The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has pledged the full support of the Ghana Police Service to the family of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, as preparations begin for her funeral.
The assurance was made during a condolence visit to the bereaved family in Accra on Friday, October 24.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Director of Police Public Affairs, ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, described the late First Lady as a national icon whose contributions to women’s empowerment had a lasting influence on the Police Service.
“Like all Ghanaians, we in the Police Service were deeply saddened by her passing. Her advocacy for women’s empowerment and gender inclusion directly inspired reforms in our institution,” ACP Ansah-Akrofi said.
She highlighted that Nana Konadu’s leadership and advocacy paved the way for more women to join the Ghana Police Service and attain senior leadership positions.
“We are grateful for the many lives she touched and the institutions she strengthened. The Police Service is one of the beneficiaries of her remarkable work,” she added.
ACP Ansah-Akrofi reaffirmed the Police Service’s commitment to stand with the family throughout the mourning period and to ensure smooth and dignified funeral arrangements.

“The IGP is here to assure the family that the Police Service stands with you in this difficult time. We are prepared to provide the necessary security and logistical support for the funeral of our beloved mother,” she noted.
She added that the upcoming funeral would be of national significance and that security arrangements would reflect that importance.
