The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that midfielder Thomas Partey missed the Black Stars’ 1-1 draw against Chad in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers due to illness.
The Villarreal star fell unwell on the eve of the crucial Group I encounter in N’Djamena, ruling him out of the matchday squad. His absence was immediately felt in Ghana’s midfield, where his experience and composure have been vital throughout the qualification campaign.
As the Black Stars prepare to host Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, Partey’s fitness will be closely monitored by the technical team.
In another squad adjustment, Real Oviedo midfielder Kwasi Sibo has received a late call-up to replace Elisha Owusu, who is suspended for the upcoming fixture.
Despite the draw in Chad, Ghana remain atop Group I with 16 points. Kick-off against Mali is scheduled for 19:00 GMT.
