Former National Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has said the tragic August 6 military helicopter crash should inspire President John Dramani Mahama to intensify efforts against illegal mining in Ghana.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Mr. Ofosu Ampofo noted that the victims died in the line of duty and the best way to honour them is to continue the fight they were pursuing.
“This should spur us on to come together and fight galamsey once and for all. The President should strengthen himself because God is with him in this fight,” he said.
He commended Ghanaians for uniting in grief and urged the government to intensify efforts to create alternative jobs for the youth, highlighting the alarming levels of unemployment.
Mr. Ofosu Ampofo also proposed the creation of a lasting monument to honor the fallen soldiers, noting that the whole nation is mourning their loss.
