Former Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has paid tribute to the eight people who lost their lives in the August 6, 2025 helicopter crash.
On Wednesday, the NPP flagbearer hopeful laid flowers at the Ceremonial Garden at the Jubilee House in honour of the victims, describing the incident as a “painful reminder of the ultimate sacrifices made by the gallant men in service to Ghana.”
He urged the nation to draw lessons from the tragedy.
“This heartbreaking event should not only unite us in grief but also awaken our collective responsibility to safeguard the integrity of our land. It must serve as a wake-up call to intensify the fight against illegal mining, or galamsey, which continues to threaten both our environment and national security,” he said.
The wreath-laying ceremony, which began on Thursday, August 7, has drawn dignitaries, military officials, and members of the public, all gathered to honour the fallen heroes and express solidarity with their families.
