Omane Boamah was pivotal to the NDC’s 2024 victory – Mark-Oliver Kevor

Dr Mark-Oliver Kevor, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Eastern Regional Chairman and Acting Director-General of the National Information Technology Agency (NiTA), has described the late Defence Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, as instrumental to the party’s success in the 2024 elections.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Dr Kevor praised Dr Boamah’s exceptional election management skills and called for them to be institutionalised within the party.

“No one can write the NDC’s 2024 election win without Omane Boamah. Whatever he brought on board worked smoothly, and I pray that it is institutionalised. He has definitely raised the standard for future directors of elections,” he said.

Dr Boamah, who also served as the NDC’s Director of Elections and IT during the 2024 polls, tragically died on August 6, 2025, in a helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.

The accident also claimed the lives of Environment Minister Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed and six military personnel. The delegation was en route to Obuasi for the launch of the Responsible Co-operative Mining and Skills Development Programme, an initiative aimed at tackling illegal mining.
