Ghana’s Black Queens coach, Kim Lars Bjorkegren, says his team has shown noticeable improvement as they prepare for their Group C opener in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The Black Queens will face defending champions South Africa later today at the Honneur Stadium.
Although Bjorkegren’s team has won only three of eight matches since he took charge in January, the Swiss coach emphasized the squad’s development leading up to the tournament.
“This team has been growing a lot over the last month together both on the pitch but also off the pitch so I am feeling that we are physically better prepared and tactically better prepared than if I compare with one month ago, and I am pretty sure the players agree with that as well,” the Swiss coach told CAF media.
The match is set to kick off at 16:00 GMT.
After today’s game, Ghana will continue their campaign against Mali and Tanzania in the group stage.
