Several people have been injured, and livestock killed, following a bee invasion in Kwaadwema in the Asante Akyem North Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday, June 26, 2025.
Residents, who are currently living in fear, told Adom News that a beehive has existed in a tree in the town for several years.
It is, however, not immediately clear what triggered the bees to swarm and attack.
The residents have called on the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to fumigate the area to ensure their safety and prevent further attacks.
However, firefighters say they lack the necessary fumigation equipment, forcing many residents to flee the town in search of safe havens.
The Municipal NADMO Director, Eric Boateng, has urged residents to remain calm, assuring them that adequate measures are being put in place to protect lives and property.
