Chinese Man Vanishes After Impregnating Young Woman in Bekwai Abodom Mining Community

-

A young Ghanaian woman from Bekwai Abodom, a mining community in the Ashanti Region, is crying out for justice after a Chinese national, identified as Lee Yung, allegedly impregnated her and mysteriously vanished.

According to the distraught young woman, Lee Yung arrived in their village as part of mining activities and started a relationship with her. She recounts that although he spoke ‘broken’ English, they managed to communicate well enough to build what she believed was a serious relationship.

“At first, everything was fine. He used to give me good sums of money. Life was really cool,” she recalled. But things took a dramatic turn when she informed him of her pregnancy.

Shortly after breaking the news, she says Lee Yung disappeared without a word and has not been seen since.

All efforts to trace his whereabouts have proven futile, leaving her and her family frustrated and heartbroken. “He promised to take care of me and the baby, but now he’s nowhere to be found,” she said.

The woman’s family is calling on authorities, including the Ghana Immigration Service and local law enforcement agencies, to intervene and help track down the man they believe has taken advantage of their daughter.

Meanwhile, Nhyira Fm’s Obra team has taken a keen interest in the matter and is actively following up to ensure the young woman gets the emotional, financial, and legal support she needs.

The case has drawn attention to the growing concern about the conduct of some foreign nationals in mining communities and the vulnerability of young women in such areas.

As the search for Lee Yung continues, the woman is left to face an uncertain future, hoping for justice—not just for herself, but for the child she now carries.
