Four people have been reported dead, while three others have sustained various degrees of injuries in an accident at Akyem Asafo on the Accra-Kumasi Highway.
The accident, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, May 12, 2025, involved two cargo trucks and a tipper truck.
Reports indicate that all three vehicles were traveling towards Accra.
An eyewitness, Tweneboah Koduah, told Adom News that the cargo truck, which was carrying cocoa, developed a fault along the way.
Tragically, under unclear circumstances, one cargo truck crashed into the vehicle, followed by another truck carrying market women, which also collided with it.
The accident has resulted in vehicular traffic on the stretch.
Koduah urged commuters traveling from Accra to Kumasi to go through Apedwa, while those from Kumasi should use Kibi to avoid being caught up in the traffic.
The police and other emergency response teams are at the scene to ensure the smooth flow of traffic on the busy road, while the victims have been rushed to nearby health facilities.
