The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested three suspected drug traffickers following a coordinated raid on multiple hideouts in Atimpoku earlier today.
The operation, described as swift and intelligence-led, marks a significant breakthrough in efforts to dismantle a major drug trafficking network believed to be operating across the Eastern Region and beyond.
The early morning raid came after several weeks of undercover surveillance and intelligence gathering by NACOC operatives in collaboration with other national security agencies.
The suspects were apprehended at different locations within Atimpoku, where quantities of suspected narcotic substances were discovered concealed in their residences.
In addition to the drugs, the Commission recovered various paraphernalia believed to be used for processing, packaging, and distribution.
The substances have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for testing, while investigations into the full extent of the suspects’ operations continue.
The identities of the arrested individuals are currently being withheld to avoid compromising ongoing investigations.
However, NACOC confirmed that the suspects have long been under surveillance due to their alleged involvement in trafficking drugs within and outside the Eastern Region.
The operation underscores NACOC’s renewed commitment to disrupting drug trafficking networks across Ghana. Officials say more crackdowns should be expected as they intensify efforts to combat the illegal drug trade.
Meanwhile, NACOC has urged the public to assist in the fight against narcotics by reporting suspicious drug-related activities in their communities.
