The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has condemned the dismissal of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH), Dr. Adam Atiku, describing it as unjust and an abuse of power.
In a statement, the association said the development was disturbing, lamenting the unfair treatment of doctors at the Emergency Unit during a recent visit by the Health Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.
The GMA revealed that the head of the Emergency Unit has faced threats and cyber-bullying, putting his safety and mental health at risk.
The GMA has declared its support for the affected medical personnel and urged public officials to exercise accountability and restraint.
“The manner in which the dismissal was carried out is an affront to due process and an abuse of power by the Hon. Minister of Health. The GMA stands in solidarity with our colleagues in the wake of these injustices being perpetuated,” the statement read in part.
