Officiating has been a longstanding issue in the local league. No season passes without coaches, club officials and the media having issues with officiating.

Just five games into the new season, some players, coaches, and club officials have expressed their massive dissatisfaction with officiating already. Coach Bashiru Hayford of AshGold was among the first to unleash his displeasure with the performance of match officials and now Coach Edward Odoom of Tema Youth has added his voice.

Speaking to the media after their outstanding Match day 2 game played at Bechem on Wednesday, Nii Odoom expressed his disappointment in the way officiating unfolded on the day.

A game that saw two of Tema Youth’s players red carded ended up with Bechem United nicking all three points courtesy an Ahmed Toure strike.

“If officiating will not change, if officiating doesn’t change in Ghana, we will not go anywhere, some of us will stop doing football”, Coach Edward Nii Odoom decried.

He therefore charged Journalist who were at the game to judge the referee’s performance on the day.

Edward Nii Odoom felt robbed and intimidated by the centre referee’s performance in Bechem. He therefore stressed that his players were intimidated throughout the 90 minutes, resulting in his side losing all three points.

Tema Youth are without a win away from home and will now travel to Sogakope over the weekend to fancy their chances against WAFA in Match Day 6 of the Ghana premier league.
