The National Coordinator of the One-District, One-factory (1D1F) policy initiative, Ms Gifty Ohene Konadu is optimistic the policy will create employment opportunities.

Madam Konadu asked Ghanaians to ignore the unfounded propaganda by critics, especially members of the opposition NDC, claiming the Akufo-Addo-led government would not be able to fulfil promises.

She urged Ghanaians to continue to have hope in the government and not pay attention to critics who are bent on seeing the Akufo-Addo government go down.

“One district, One Factory is a policy which seeks to create permanent jobs and not temporal. The promise that Nana Akufo-Addo made is a promise that he is fulfilling and he will continue until all the districts have at least a factory each. So I urge Ghanaians to ignore all those propaganda talks because it will work”she said.

The aim of the policy, according to government, is to ensure that Ghana’s ongoing industrialisation drive spreads to every part of the country, as opposed to the hitherto situation where the vast majority of manufacturing facilities are located in the five largest urban areas, namely Accra, Tema, Kumasi, Takoradi, and Tamale.

This, according to industry players, will help reduce the cost of doing business by providing shared industry resources and revenues.

But Ms Ohene Konadu on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Wednesday said Ghanaians should brace themselves for more factories by 2020.

“I’m assuring you all that every district with raw materials will have its own factory by the end of 2020,” she stated.
